  we are now doing a trial run for accepting credit/debit cards at the convention for donations this summer.

  no reciepts or copies of reciepts will be held by the wt.

  the monies will be deposited straight into the society's account.

  To which I said,

  i can't believe i'm actually posting here.

  i've been lurking for a while and i've been having doubts about this being the "truth" for years and sometimes feel really stuck and hopeless about my situation.

  i'm married to an elder (who is 110% jw) and i was for the most part raised in the "truth".

  SICKANDTIRED - I can certainly relate to what you are saying. Fortunately my wife is about 65% in and family ranging from 49%-101% in...

  I have already expressed to my wife how despite my 'heresy' our 'core values' are the same, and I am going to give this A LONG TIME to sink in... Slow and steady wins the race!

  how can anyone stand this stuff?

  How did you fill the void after leaving?

  i'm curious about how people filled the void after leaving the jws.

  i'm at a point, a bit over a year after leaving, where i am finding i have confronted the reality of my life and situation... and it's depressing.

  i realize i have holes in my life (a significant other, social activities, something higher/beyond myself) which many worldly people naturally have filled but it feels unnatural for me, almost synthetic and it makes me more depressed the more i think about it.

  I viewed it less as a 'void' and more as a 'framework.'

  With the witnesses, your framework is laid out for you: meetings, service, responsibilities, the 'new system' to solve all your problems you choose to ignore....

  In my new personal framework, education is playing a major role. For me it seems to be a perfect fit, but everyone's different.

  Do they still play the piano during songs at the KH?

  i was just now thinking of this do they still play the piano at the kh or is that part out of there all together also, i have been learning that when you look at a word in the bible many words translated over to hebrew have a deeper meaning for example the word praise a person can just glance at the word and think praise, but there are many hebrew meanings behind the word praise and one of the meanings:.

  zamar-to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument i.e.

  play upon it, to make music accompanied by the voice, to celebrate in song and music, give praise, sing forth praises, psalms.

  WOW! The piano at our hall went the way of the Dodo in the early 90's with the hall renovation. Probably hadn't been played in years. Only one sister who played off and on before that...

  As a kid, I also remember a real old- timer probably from the Russelite era, CRAZY AS A LOON who played kingdom songs on his violin at congregation picnics! Whacky, but cool. Never happen today.

  Funny thing: 20 or so years ago, mom had a study with a couple who were musicians in their church. Studied for years, came to meetings, but in the end they couldn't commit. The reason?:

  THE MUSIC SUCKS!!!!

  ....and still does to this very day.

  i was at a friend's house the other day and noticed on the refrigerator that they were scheduled for a talk on the tms.

  it is for the week of july 25 and entitled:.

  "why none of the demons are atheist (jas 2:19)".

  MANINTHEMIDDLE - yeah, it's like you need to pinch yourself to make sure it's real....

  MRQUICK - I remember my mom throwing out all her aluminum pots!

  HOSER - Idiot is the word. The overseer is supposed to actually look over the assignment and make sure it's age/circumstance appropriate. Most just let the computer mindlessly spit a list out. They couldn't be bothered.

  PROCESSOR - Love your suggestions, esp. the "Life of Brian" one... gotta watch that again. I'm also an ex School Overseer. It was really a good match for me - I liked it because it was kind of scholastic-ish... Unfortunately most of the students RESENT having to give talks which is pretty SAD.

  NO ROOM FOR GEORGE - yup, it is the real deal, no kidding.

  HONESTY - Time Vampire is the word! I think that's what most of the entire 'spiritual' program is about.
